Portrett kurs serie i Ålesund
I våren 2024 blir det en serie portretteres gjennom Aggregat Kunstnerfelleskap.
I Februar tilby vi først et tegne kurs for portrett med modell.
I Mars etterfølge et malekurs helg - samme konseptet men med olje maling. Du kan kjøpe det som pakke eller bare den du er interessert i. Gjerne del det med noen som kunne våre interessert i å lære seg portrett tegning og maling.
Start med tegning! Vi fokusere en del på Anatomi. Det er veldig grunnleggende og vil hjelpe deg å utvikle kunnskapen din.
Portrett Maling er noe av det gøyeste og fineste jeg vet. Ja, det er vanskelig i begynnelsen, men når du ha lært deg grunnlag, blir det til en glede. Utfordre deg å bli med i maling. Her handler det mer om uttrykk og farge. Bra om vi få til likhet (- da er det viktig at man kan tegne), men maling er mye mer emosjonell.
Jeg er der å hjelpe til å skal også male på lerretet dit litt når det er ønskelig, for å vise hvordan du kommer deg videre.
Menasjeri - a beautiful opening
My Solo art show ‘menasjeri’ out in Alnes on Godøya is up and running and the opening was such a success!
The people started to fill the room and it was wonderful to see so many interested in the works on the wall. Quite frankly, I was over the moon excited and also surprised that so many had showed up. Just a couple days ago, I thought the whole thing might end in a flop. But as soon as I got to curate the exhibition in the space, the pieces fell into place and by giving them that space also made sense together and I got to feel a healthy pride in all the work of the last years. I had been worried that the brought spectrum of subjects and methods would seem to random. But in the space they started to really communicate with each other and made sense together.
As the room filled with people - way more that I could have hoped for - a dancer dressed in wide flowing blue pants suddenly entered the gallery space and took her stage. It was a beautiful and brave performance by Tonje Molnes that absolutely was a highlight for me. Her dance expressed in another way the feelings and message that I try to say through colour and charcoal on canvas and paper.
Tonje has also been the model for my dancing paintings, so it all tight together nicely.
I am so grateful for the work of Alnes Lighthouse staff and everyone responsible to giving me this chance. I want to express my thanks to all the people that have been such valuable support over the years. Through cheering for me, telling others about my work and even purchasing paintings. It’s invaluable for me to have you on my team that way!

Quite a few of my smaller landscapes and paintings of Ålesund have sold, but the bigger works are still available for purchase.

“Menasjeri” - New Art exhibition at Alnes Lighthouse

I am excited to announce my new art exhibition, Menasjeri, at Alnes Lighthouse in Norway. Alnes is one of my favourite places on earth and for so many people in our local community it has a special place in our hearts. To be honoured to get to show my art here means so much to me!
About the exhibition
The exhibition will feature a collection of my oil paintings including a few drawings, ranging from landscape to figure work with different topics.
My style of painting is definitely figurative and realistic which can be called impressionistic realism, often using a loose brushstroke. In some paintings I include metal leaf. What my paintings all have in common is a crisp colour palate.
The title Menasjeri is from a French word "menagerie" that means "zoo" and can be used as a synonym for ‘collection’. I chose this title because my paintings are a diverse collection of imagery, from the natural world to the human form. I am fascinated by the beauty and complexity of nature and all living things, and I strive to capture that in my work.
The exhibition will feature a variety of my paintings, including:
Landscapes of the Norwegian coastline around Ålesund
Portraits and figure paintings of people telling different stories
Some paintings portray a strong message, commenting on justice and ecological issues, like the plight and fight for freedom of Iranian women and the many shadow sides of the fast fashion industry. So as you can tell, it is a brought spectrum of works and with that the title seemed fitting to me.
I am excited to share my work with the public and to see how people respond to my paintings. I hope that you as visitors to the exhibition will find something to enjoy in my work, and that the images will inspire you and spark something in you.
I want my art to be a bridge that connects people to themselves, their inner thoughts, and to a sense of peace. I hope my work inspires people and helps them to see the world in new ways.
Opening event
The exhibition will open on October 21st 2023 at 2pm with an official opening and run until the end of November. Alnes Lighthouse is located at Alnesgard, 6055 Godøya. The exhibition is open to the public and free to attend. General opening times are:

During the opening on Saturday 21st, there will be a short dance performance by dancer Tonje Aas Molnes and some words by me.

Tegnekurs i Juni
During the month of June I am offering a drawing class in my studio on Monday evenings. The course goes over 4 weeks, every Monday from 18:00 - 20:00. All materials are included and you just have to bring yourself! The total cost for all four nights is just 1200,- NOK. We will be drawing from a still-life set up in the room. This is drawing from life, which is a wonderful method to improve observation skills and to understand form really well. We will work step by step and every student will get individual guidance by me. My teaching method is atelier training style, which means each student works on their own drawing while I go around and help along or give feedback as needed. You can choose if you want to work in pencil or in charcoal. Both will be available for you. Spaces are limited, please contact me here about the course!

Det ha vært en spennende periode med utforskning og eksperimentering med nye verk, og jeg ser frem til å få vise maleriene no i byen vår. Det blir ei Vernissage kl 16:00 1. Mai og utstillinga blei hengande til slutten av Mai. Jeg skal vise en rekke oljemalerier fra små til stor med en blanding av landskap fra område og nye figurmalerier.
Maleriene er for salg og jeg håper det blir til glede.
